This Is the Sort Of Superhuman Effort It Takes To Save A Messi Free Kick

Oretis Karnezis did not leap a tall building in a single bound, outrun a speeding bullet or prove himself more powerful than a locomotive. Nevertheless, the Granada goalkeeper delivered a performance against Barcelona on Saturday that could have seem him confused with Superman.

With Granada clinging to a 1-0 lead over one of the world's best clubs in the second half, Karnezis made a miraculous, leaping save to keep a free kick from Lionel Messi out of the net at Los Carmenes stadium. That acrobatic save of Messi's free kick was the highlight of a masterful performance by the Greece international as Granada dealt Barcelona's title hope a major blow.

"I did not stop anyone winning La Liga, I just did my job. I am very happy, nobody thought we could beat Barcelona but we have done it", Karnezis said after the match, via Marca.com.

Here is another look at that ridiculous save as well as some of the other Barcelona shots that he turned away in his side's stunning 1-0 triumph.
