An alarming amount of our population suffers from insomnia or reports having low quality sleep. Sometimes after having a busy day I used to get in bed and have a hard time falling asleep because too many thoughts were rushing through my mind. After I picked up my meditation practice, and started reading motivational quotes this became a thing of the past.
I came up with a "going to bed routine" that has proved to be very effective to improve the quality of my sleep. This routine is very simple to practice. First I enjoy a cup of hot tea, usually non caffeinated chamomile, mint or green tea. I take my time to enjoy not only the delicious taste but also its comforting smell. Then I read motivational quotes that would change my mindset from negativity or frustration to a positive outlook, and a feeling of gratitude. After my mindset has improved then I'm ready to lay down in bed and meditate, which would drive me to a deep sleep before I can even realize.
Countless studies have shown that people with higher levels of gratitude and positive thoughts before bed slept longer and reported better rest quality than those with more negative thoughts. Since I have seen such a great improvement in the way I end my day, I decided to share not only my routine but also some of my favorite quotes with the world, and pass on a sweeter sleep and healthier lifestyle to others.
I was unsure on how to share this information so being the visual person that I am, I decided to use Instagram. Now, instead of creating the typical Instagram account with text quotes, I decided to turn my puppy's Instagram account from the usual dog wearing cute stuff to a spiritual and loving puppy account with the mission to spread love, positivity, motivation, and much needed inspiration to our world.
It may sound strange but to me it made perfect sense to unite two of my absolute favorite things: spirituality and my adorable puppy... because who doesn't love dogs and a positive life?
