Grenade In Thrift Store? Inert Grenade Found In Donation Bag By Store Employee In Chicago

Inert Grenade Discovered In Northwest Side Thrift Store

An apparent grenade was found Monday morning inside a bag of donated clothes at a thrift store on Chicago's Northwest Side.

The grenade turned out to be a dummy, according to the Chicago Tribune, but still prompted the police bomb squad to show up at the Unique Thrift shop in the 4400 block of West Diversey Avenue.

The discovery of the "inert" -- i.e. empty -- pineapple grenade also prompted the store to be temporarily evacuated and traffic to be cordoned off in front of the store, according to NBC Chicago.

The store was back in business by 11 a.m. Monday, Fox reports.
