Snowden To Host Live Q&A Through Guardian

The Guardian announced on Monday that NSA leaker Edward Snowden would appear online to answer questions from readers.

Snowden has not spoken out since last week, when he sat down in an exclusive interview with the South China Morning Post. The former NSA contractor came forward earlier this month as the person responsible for leaking top-secret documents about NSA surveillance programs to The Guardian's Glenn Greenwald, documentary filmmaker Laura Poitras and The Washington Post's Barton Gellman.

Greenwald wrote that Snowden would appear live online on Monday at 11:00 a.m. EST (4:00 p.m. BST) to answer questions about the NSA's surveillance programs and his decision to leak classified information to the press.

He added, "An important caveat: the live chat is subject to Snowden's security concerns and also his access to a secure internet connection. It is possible that he will appear and disappear intermittently, so if it takes him a while to get through the questions, please be patient."

Greenwald instructed readers to post questions in the comments section below his Guardian article. Snowden planned to read through the thread and answer questions. The Guardian would embed his responses below each question. "You can also follow along on Twitter using the hashtag #AskSnowden," Greenwald wrote.
