Guerlain Chicherit's Mesmerizing Car Crash Has To Be Seen To Be Believed (VIDEO)

WATCH: Daredevil Driver's Jaw-Dropping Crash

GoPro has released a video of French rally car driver Guerlain Chicherit's devastating crash while attempting the world's longest car jump back in March.

Chicherit had set up a base of operations in Tignes, France in his quest to break Tanner Foust's record for the longest automobile ramp jump, 332 feet. He landed a few smooth trial runs, but lost control of his custom car on the final flight attempt. The resulting footage is as equal parts grisly and astonishing.

The ill-fated jump (and Chicherit's miraculous survival) goes down 7:30 into the video, but the entire 12-minute clip is worth a watch. Check out his face at the 8-minute mark when things go off track.

Chicherit told HuffPost he knew something was awry when the car jumped. How did he survive?

"When something like this happens, you just try to stay alive," he said via email. "I remember thinking about how my car was supposed to be strong. I was thinking about my daughter when the car stopped rolling."
