Guillermo Del Toro: 'Star Wars' Not On Radar At The Moment

Add Guillermo del Toro to the growing list of directors who probably won't tackle "Star Wars: Episode VII" for Disney and Lucasfilm. Del Toro, the man behind "Pan's Labyrinth" as well as the upcoming "Pacific Rim," told Fanhattan that he hadn't be "formally approached" for the film just yet.

"I heard some rumblings," del Toro said. "I have so many projects to discuss or think about. [For] something that is not a possibility yet, I don’t [speculate]. You know, because I have so many things that I need to catch up with. If this ever becomes a reality, and there’s an approach to do it, I would then think about it, but -- it’s like thinking if I want to date a supermodel. I don’t think about these things."

Del Toro is just the latest director to express interest in "Star Wars: Episode VII," but not necessarily interest. Steven Spielberg ruled himself out of the mix, as did J.J. Abrams and Quentin Tarantino. Both Jon Favreau and Colin Trevorrow seemed more open to the idea, but as yet no offers have been made.

"Star Wars: Episode VII" is due out in theaters in 2015. Oscar winner Michael Arndt ("Little Miss Sunshine") is writing the script.
