Gwen Stefani Opens Up About Family Struggles In New Interview

"It was a lot of knocking my head against the wall."

Gwen Stefani's new relationship with Blake Shelton is the current talk of the celebrity-couple town. But in her InStyle December cover interview, the singer opens up about facing family difficulties while married to Gavin Rossdale and recording No Doubt's 2012 album "Push and Shove."

"I didn't tour at all. But I did record the No Doubt album, which was super hard," she told the magazine, according to People. "I was torn the whole time. Every day I would take the kids to school, drive to Santa Monica, work on the album, and then I'd think, 'Oh my God, if I don't leave by 2:30, I'm not gonna get home in time for dinner.' And Gavin being on tour …"

"I'm not gonna say there weren't some incredible moments making that album," she continued. "But it was a lot of knocking my head against the wall. A lot of struggle."

Stefani announced her divorce from Rossdale back in August, and after months of rumors, confirmed through her rep on Wednesday that she is now dating her "Voice" co-star Shelton.

According to their social media flirting, the two seem to be enjoying each others' company, and just earlier this week, Stefani told Carson Daly she's in a positive new life phase.

"My life basically blew up in my face. And now I'm in this new life, and it's pretty awesome I have to say -- I'm so inspired and being back on the show, and just being in a new place," she said. "Everything just feels new. I just feel inspired. I don't know how else to describe it."
