Gym Class Heroes are hopping back in the studio to record a new summertime album -- and they're pumped about it.
Travie McCoy, Matt McGinley, Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo and Eric Roberts chatted about the upcoming record with HuffPost Entertainment before performing "The Fighter" with Oh Land during MTV's Restore the Shore special on Nov. 15.
"We're getting ready to go into the studio in a few weeks to record kind of like an EP of cover songs," McCoy told HuffPost. "We picked a bunch of summertime cover songs and we're going to record them with a little Gym Class twist. So keep your ears peeled for that."
The album will not include any collaborations with other artists, as McCoy says it will be "strictly Gym Class."
"We kind of narrowed it down from a long list of possible summertime songs," McGinley continued, "We’re really excited!"
The band was also excited about the Restore the Shore event, which helped raise over a million dollars for Sandy relief in Seaside Heights, N.J. -- thanks in large part to the cast of "Jersey Shore" and other MTV stars who showed up to support the efforts.
"Honestly, I think it’s the least we can do you know? To help out and to come up here and play a song and answer some phone calls," McCoy told HuffPost. "We're all upstate New Yorkers and we've all, in one way or another, been affected. It’s just a bum out."
"I think its important when you do have a platform to get out and shout for help," McGinley added. "So it's cool to be a part of this and see people from the "Jersey Shore" and MTV using that platform to help out and raise money."
