New York Hail Storm: Heavy Rain and Ice Pelted NYC On Monday Night

NEW YORK - Only two weeks after a tornado ripped through parts of Brooklyn, New York was host to a freak hail storm last night. The National Weather Service had issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx, but Manhattan and Brooklyn seemed to get the worst of the storm.

New York Times reports:

Three-quarters of an inch of hail fell in Brooklyn Heights in Monday's storm, and one inch fell0 in Hoboken, N.J., according to Matthew Tauber, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Parts of Brooklyn and Queens received an inch to an inch and a half of rain, and there were reports of flooding in Park Slope, Mr. Tauber said. In Manhattan, nearly an inch of rain fell in Central Park.
