'Hannibal' On NBC: Bryan Fuller, Hugh Dancy Talk Staying True To The Books (VIDEO)

Raising The Bar With 'Hannibal'

"Hannibal" is headed to TV next month, but get ready to see Mr. Lecter like never before.

In HuffPost TV's exclusive clip above, series creator Bryan Fuller and the "Hannibal" cast opened up about what viewers can expect from the series.

"We wanted to take all the best elements of the books and really tell the story of Hannibal Lecter in a way we haven't seen before," Fuller said. "We're trying to elevate the genre on television and really do something special."

NBC's "Hannibal" centers on Special Agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and forensic psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter's (Mads Mikkelsen) growing relationship as they slowly learn more about one another ... for better or worse.

"We're trying to get something that's very dramatic and entertaining, but we're also trying to raise the bar," Dancy said in the video, while Hettienne Park (Beverly Katz) noted that the cast got a crash course in forensics.

"Hannibal" premieres on Thurs., April 4 at 10 p.m. ET.
