When he was 19, Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for What's Eating Gilbert Grape. His great dream was to make enough money as an actor so he could go to college and become a marine biologist. "When I started acting, I didn't think of it as a career. I always thought Hollywood was this magical world where a fairy came down and said, 'Come live with the Munchkins; you are now one of us,'" he told Variety. "I didn't understand the concept of it as a career."
As a passionate environmentalist who is devoted to the wellbeing of the earth and its inhabitants we imagine DiCaprio would make an excellent marine biologist. But we're glad that he stuck with acting. Next up he stars as Hugh Glass, an 18th Century frontiersman, in the upcoming Western thriller The Revenant.
