In the midst of promoting his new movie "42," Harrison Ford has opened up about same-sex marriage in a new interview.
The 70-year-old actor sounds off on the similarities between Jackie Robinson's struggle for racial acceptance in major league baseball (as seen in the new film) and the battle for marriage equality throughout the U.S. and beyond.
"Things do change quickly at a tipping point, as it builds and it builds and it builds until there’s a moment where the balance of opinion, the weight of experience and the understanding comes to a point where the scales tip in the other direction," Ford says. "We’re getting there, we’re getting there. You know, you would hope that it would have happened with less resistance."
He then adds, "You would have hoped that everyone would get the point at the same time, but life’s not like that."

Ford dons a fat suit, a wig and false eyebrows for his role in "42," in which he plays Branch Rickey, the Brooklyn Dodgers executive who first signed Robinson.
In a separate interview with USA Today, Ford says he's happy being a character actor. "I never thought I had a chance at leading man roles," the "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" star says. "I thought that was for good-looking guys with talent."
