Harry Potter” actor Jim Tavaré, best known for his role as the Leaky Cauldron innkeeper and the franchise’s resident hunchback, is recovering in intensive care after a serious car crash.

Tavaré, whose character first appeared in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” was involved in a head-on collision Monday that left him with a broken neck, 15 broken ribs, a punctured lung, a broken leg and fractured breastbones, according to an update on his Facebook page. No further details about where the accident occurred were released.

His wife Laura broke the news of the accident on Facebook with a photo of a bruised Tavaré in the ICU lying in a hospital bed giving a thumbs up.

“This is Laura here,” she wrote in the photo caption. “Now that his family have been informed, Jim has asked me to let you all know that he was involved in a serious car accident yesterday, a head on collision. He’s currently in ICU intensive care.”

“He’s had 2 blood transfusions so far and is about to go in for his first surgery. This is for real, not a movie role,” she continued. “Please hold some good thoughts for him as he fights his way out of this.”

Apart from the “Harry Potter” franchise, the 54-year-old British actor, who lives in Los Angeles, is also a comedian who co-wrote and starred on the BAFTA-winning TV series “The Sketch Show.”

Let’s raise a glass of firewhisky to a speedy recovery.
