'Harry Potter' Stars Remind Us J.K. Rowling's Story Is About 'Fighting Fascism' And 'Embracing Diversity'

Those books seem "a lot less fantastical" these days.

Jason Isaacs may have played the loathsome Lucius Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” film series, but in real life, he’s a good dude.

The actor visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort over the weekend with Draco Malfoy actor Tom Felton to meet with fans. Wandering around with his “blond bombshell” co-star “extremely cognito,” Isaacs later wrote on Instagram, was a “welcome escape from the horrors of the world.”

For a bit, that is.

“[W]e answered questions on stage and were reminded what the stories were all about: fighting fascism, embracing diversity and never giving up hope. Suddenly seemed a lot less fantastical,” the actor wrote, before thanking the Potter fans who turned out.

The Malfoys weren’t the only ones hanging out around Florida that weekend. (Let’s hope they brought their sunscreen, though.) Isaacs also posted a reunion pic with Felton and Neville Longbottom actor Matthew Lewis.

Marvel at them getting older as I get younger,” the actor joked over Twitter, dedicating the post “to all the Potter fans who remind us to fight for the light.”

J.K. Rowling even chimed in, replying to the Slytherin-Gryffindor alliance with a heart emoji and a Potter-esque lightening bolt.

Rowling has never hidden her politics. The author, whose beloved series is ringed by a theme of love, has spoken out on a multitude of issues, standing against both Brexit and Donald Trump (whom she once called “a giant orange Twitter egg”). In the past, Rowling has spoken about one of her idols, English civil rights activist Jessica Mitford, a woman who, in the author’s words, “liked nothing better than a good fight, preferably against a pompous and hypocritical target.”

As for Isaacs, he and his group of Potter alumni grew by one more when they ran into Warwick Davis, who played both Professor Flitwick and Griphook.

We’ve never wished for magic more.
