Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is working from home on the first day of the 114th Congress after being diagnosed with broken bones in his face, three broken ribs and a concussion, according to a statement from his office.
The injuries are a result of an accident that occurred while Reid was exercising at home last week. After the accident, Reid was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, Nevada, and then admitted to the University Medical Center hospital in Las Vegas overnight. He was discharged on Friday.
According to his office, Reid is in Washington but not working from Capitol Hill.
“Despite his injuries, he has been working every day, holding meetings with fellow Senators and staff," Adam Jentleson, Communications Director for Reid, said in the statement. "Senator Reid has spoken with President Obama multiple times since his injury and will continue to keep a busy schedule in the coming days."

In Reid's absence, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) will assume his duties on the Senate floor.
