Harvard Study: Creative People More Likely to Cheat

A recent study from the Harvard Business School suggests that creative people may be more likely to cheat. The study, which will do nothing to ease conservatives' dread of San Francisco, found that divergent thinkers tend to find "original ways to bypass moral rules." It's not that artistic talent automatically makes a person heartless, just that a nimble mind has an easier time justifying its moral lapses.

The novel result "puts pressure on organizations to try to find ways in which they can foster creativity without these bad consequences," says Professor Francesca Gino, who co-authored the paper. It also gives creative professionals an extra incentive to do good work, if only to reassure themselves.
