"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming 'Wow! What a Ride!'" -- Hunter S. Thompson

I love this quote because it reminds me that every moment of every day of our life is a non-refundable ticket for a ride that we paid for in advance. I don't know about you, but I have no intention of leaving this planet clutching an un-punched ticket in my hand. Metaphorically speaking, in what way might you be clinging a bit too tightly to the ticket for "the ride of your life", waiting to use it until you have the time, an over-abundance of resources, the courage, the permission, or the _________________ (fill in the blank).

Living life in a manner that allows us to fully "use up" the gift of our physical, emotional and material resources isn't a license to live stupidly; it's an invitation to live mindfully, with passion, optimism, joy and gratitude, remembering that the day that lies before us is really the only day we have to use our "ticket" because it expires at midnight every night. Has your ticket been punched today?
