The University of Hawaii football program released two of its defensive coaches today, in the wake of a 1-11 season.

Head coach Norm Chow informed defensive coordinator Thom Kaumeyer and linebacker coach Tony Tuioti of their dismissals this morning. Kaumeyer had been an assistant coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars before coaching at Hawaii the last two seasons. Tuioti, who played for Hawaii from 1996-1999, coached the team for six years.

The Rainbow Warriors’ only win this season was against Army, the same day Hawaii running back Willis Wilson was found dead after drowning at an Oahu beach.

Prior to Wilson’s death, coach Chow received a lot of unwanted attention for the comment that he was “too old for this” following a 47-10 loss to Utah State.

He later vehemently denied any assumptions that he would leave UH, telling reporters "I'm not going to quit ever. I preached not quitting to these kids. You expect me to quit? Are you crazy?"
