Hazard Symbols To Look Out For On Your Cleaning Products (PHOTOS)

Here's what those hazard symbols on your cleaning products really mean.

This month we’re all about giving our home a fresh start and making it as clean and clutter-free as possible. So we’ve been putting our household cleaners to work big-time and we’re sure you have too. And the more we use some of these products, the more we notice hazard symbols on the packaging, and we realized we don't know all their meanings . So just to be safe, we reached out to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to learn more.

Since the organization doesn’t have an actual document with a list of the symbols and their meanings, we sent them a link from Healthy Cleaning 101, a website that keeps track of Canadian Consumer Products. And Office of Communications Director Scott Wolfson said the organization had no objections to the information on that site and how it correlates with the United States.

So we’ve put together a list of common hazard symbols found on cleaning products so you can easily identify safety information. And be sure to head over to Healthy Cleaning 101 and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission for more detailed information.
