How Heidi Fleiss Went From Running A Babysitting Ring To A Prostitution Ring

Long before Heidi Fleiss became a household name, before she was the liaison between A-listers and prostitutes, she was running things -- a babysitting ring, to be exact.

Fleiss, known as the "Hollywood Madam" for her years catering to the stars, told HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri on Friday about her first gig, and how she took the same model to prostitution.

"When I was 13, I had about 15 women working for me [as babysitters]," she said. "Say, for instance, the Steinmans asked me to babysit on a Friday night, but I was already babysitting for another couple, but I couldn't let that money go. So I would send a friend to go do the other couple, and it went from there."

Fleiss went on to run her highly profitable prostitution ring until she was arrested in 1993. Her famed discretion is what attracted the celebrities, and Fleiss wasn't prepared to reveal any secrets Friday. She did mention that studios used to pay for actors to indulge in her services from time to time, but she said she has always been tight-lipped about her clients' identities.

"There's really only one name that came out with me," she said, referring to Charlie Sheen. "His name would've never come out, but when I was arrested, I had his traveler's checks in my purse. That's the only reason why. Otherwise, his name would've never come out."
