Heidi Heitkamp Gets DSCC's First 2012 Ad Buy For North Dakota U.S. Senate Race

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee released its first independent expenditure ad for the 2012 election cycle Monday, in support of North Dakota Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp.

The DSCC is spending about $76,000 for the ad, which targets Rep. Rick Berg (R-N.D.). The ad's narrator accuses Berg of "doing things the Washington way," and criticizes him for supporting Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-Wisc.) budget plan.

Watch the ad:

"Rick Berg voted to gut Medicare and slash funding for North Dakota farmers, while voting to give huge tax breaks to millionaires like himself," DSCC spokesman Matt Canter said in a statement. "While Berg does things the Washington Way, Heidi Heitkamp will protect Medicare and defend farm and energy jobs for North Dakota."

The commercial comes in response to an ad from the pro-GOP Crossroads GPS, which showed Heitkamp calling President Barack Obama "amazing." The ad has since been removed from YouTube due to a copyright claim.
