Shooting a sexy commercial for Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s seems to be a swimsuit model rite of passage these days. But the latest Carl's Jr. girl is actually a veteran: Heidi Klum.
Heidi is the star of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s new commercial, set to hit airwaves in late March. The ad takes the fast food chain's typical formula -- blonde model, bathing suit, massive hamburger -- and gives it a theme: "The Graduate."
"Basically, I am Mrs. Robinson and I am seducing this cute little boy... with my burger," says Heidi in the behind-the-scenes video (below). "I shove the burger in his mouth in a sexy way." As the commercial's creative director Mick DiMaria put it, "We're basically taking that scene and foodifying it."
Bet you didn't know that was a thing, right?
But it is Carl's Jr. and Hardees' specialty: making the least-sexy food items alluring. The chain has become famous for its over-the-top ads, which have featured Audrina Patridge (2009), Padma Lakshmi (2009), Kim Kardashian (2009), Emily Ratajkowski (2012) and our gal Kate Upton. 2013 saw a newbie Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, Nina Agdal, shilling for Carl's Jr.'s new Charbroiled Atlantic Cod Fish Sandwich.
But to promote the brand's new Jim Beam Bourbon Burger, Carl's Jr. called in a specialist. "I do eat a lot of burgers," attests Heidi. "I do also eat a lot of fries."
