Helicopter Crashes Into Parking Lot, Killing 2

MIAMI, FL -- A helicopter crashed into a Kendall parking lot Wednesday afternoon, killing two passengers on board.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Kathleen Bergen told CBS Miami that the Robinson R44 helicopter had taken off from nearby Tamiami Airport before crashing near SW 130th Street and SW 124th Avenue.

Flames were quickly extinguished by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, but aerial footage from the scene showed two bodies covered in yellow tarps.

The crash "sounded like a car accident," said Eliza Zelachowski, who was at work across the street and filmed the video above.

NBC6 reports the registered owner of the helicopter is Bravo Helicopters LLC in Miami, but names of the victims have not been released.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it was gathering information about the crash.
