William Kentridge's Triumphs and Laments: A Project for Rome

550 meter-long mural along the Tiber Walls

In the last few days installation has begun on William Kentridge's Triumphs and Laments: A Project for Rome.

This epic 550-meter frieze along the banks of the Tiber River will featuring images of war, love, oppression and resilience ... a non-chronological history of the Eternal City in all its glory and all its tragedy.

The installation will open to the public on April 22nd and continue on view for years to come until it gradually fades back to its original state.

Why I post it:

This artwork is a big intervention in urban scene very unusual for the city of Rome.
