Here's What It's Like To Live In A State With One Abortion Provider

A new documentary explores the lives of 32 women in Missouri, and the reality of anti-abortion legislation.

In the entire state of Missouri, there is currently one abortion provider and a required 72-hour waiting period for the procedure. An upcoming HBO documentary, "Abortion: Stories Women Tell," sheds light on the lives of Missouri women, and the myriad of ways they are impacted by this lack of access to care.

Even in the wake of Monday's Supreme Court ruling, which deemed Texas's restrictive abortion laws unconstitutional, abortion is still extremely difficult to access in many states across the U.S.

The trailer for "Abortion: Stories Women Tell," shows how restrictions on abortion access actually affect the women who are forced to deal with them, and the mental, emotional, financial and physical repercussions of living in a place where women are left with few options when unplanned pregnancies occur.

The film's director, Tracy Droz Tragos, set out to tell the stories of 32 vastly different women -- and in doing so, told the stories of women who are passionately and adamantly anti-abortion as well. In April, Tragos told The Huffington Post, "The brave women on both sides of the issue made this a little less about sides and a little more about real people’s lives.”

"Abortion: Stories Women Tell" will be released in select cities on August 12, 2016.
