Hillary Clinton Joins Twitter, First Tweet Thanks Creators Of 'Texts From Hillary'

Hillary Clinton Joins The Twittersphere

Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has officially joined Twitter.

Her official Twitter account, @HillaryClinton, was unlocked and verified on Monday, and gained thousands of followers before she sent out a single tweet.

Her first tweet paid homage to co-creators of the "Texts From Hillary" blog, Adam Smith and Stacy Lambe.

This isn't the first time Clinton thanked the creators of wildly successful "Texts From Hillary." In April of last year, Clinton thanked Smith and Lambe for the "lolz."

Clinton's Twitter bio describes the former Secretary of State as a "wife, mom, lawyer, women & kids advocate, FLOAR, FLOTUS, US Senator, SecState, author, dog owner, hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, glass ceiling cracker, TBD..."

Her husband, former President Bill Clinton, joined Twitter in April, with his official handle @billclinton.

The former president first discussed joining Twitter with comedian Stephen Colbert during an interview on "The Colbert Report."

"What if you tweet and nobody tweets back?" Clinton asked Colbert. "There's nothing worse than a friendless tweeter."
