College Streaking: A Short History

Frank 'The Tank' Ricard was on to something when he suggested a quick streak through the quad and up towards the gymnasium in "Old School."

Though no one followed him then, he's had plenty of company throughout history, which -- who knew -- has a rich index on collegiate streaking.

Rarely is streaking considered a good idea outside the undergraduate experience, so it shouldn't surprise that alcohol and stress swirl in this shot of courage. What's more likely surprising is one confederate general's contribution to the practice and the sad fate of one of the Founding Father's sons, who cemented it as ritual on the Harvard Yard.
