'Hoarding: Buried Alive': Man Wants To Rent Duplex Unit Next To His Garbage Hoard

Want To Move Into A Duplex Next To A Hoarder?

The situation was an absolute mess on "Hoarding: Buried Alive" for Kyle and his girlfriend of three years, Lynn. Three years ago, Kyle worked full time, and so he bought a house. When Lynn moved in, though, she brought with her a nasty hoarding habit. Three years later, Kyle was out of work and expecting Lynn to pay the bills. Out of spite, she refused. And so the couple found themselves facing possible eviction.

The property Kyle owned was a duplex, and the other side was miraculously empty. But it was also in a terrible state of disrepair. He brought an inspector over, who was horrified at the conditions outside the house, and inside the empty unit. He estimated $100,000 just to make that side livable. "As it is right now, i don't know if you're gonna get anybody to even come into the house once they see the exterior," he said, referring to the garbage all over the yard.

But then he took a peek into the side that Kyle and Lynn looked in, and his mind was practically shattered. There was at least two to three feet of garbage everywhere, and an open-flame heating unit mounted on the wall. But just when things looked completely hopeless, we jumped ahead six weeks and they'd actually managed to make their home livable! Now to start working on the space next door.

"Hoarding: Buried Alive" airs Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
