Holly Bobo's Purse: Dog Digs Up Missing Woman's Bag A Mile From Her Tennessee Home

Missing Nursing Student's Purse Dug Up By Dog

Two years after a Tennessee nursing student went missing, a dog dug up the first piece of evidence in a case that had long ago gone cold.

Just a mile from Holly Bobo's home in Darden, a neighborhood dog found on Wednesday a tattered leather bag, WMC-TV reports.

It's yet unclear what was inside the purse or whether it was buried intentionally. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, which is handling the case, didn't return multiple calls for comment by HuffPost Crime.

Bobo, then 20, was last seen on April 13, 2011 by her brother. She was leaving for school when Clint says he saw a man wearing camouflage grab her by the arm, pulling her into the woods. Clint reportedly thought the man was Bobo's boyfriend, but later got worried and contacted his mother, who called 911.

A neighbor also called 911 when she heard a woman screaming shortly after 7:30 a.m.

A pool of blood was found next to the family's carport the day she went missing. Investigators believe her abduction was premeditated.

Wednesday's evidence marks the first break in the case since investigators found a lunch bag and cell phone behind her home shortly after her disappearance.

The Bobo family hasn't given up hope in their search for the girl, who is the cousin of country music singer Whitney Duncan. In September last year, the family left tip boxes at area fairs that would give opportunities for anonymous tipsters to come forward.

The family has been hesitant to talk to reporters about leads in the case. Chris Williams, director of operations for the Southeast Canine Search and Rescue that has worked with the family, said today that there are rumors about the purse floating around, but wouldn't comment further.

Bobo is described as a white, 5-foot-3-inch female, 110 pounds, with blond hair. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt and light blue jeans. Bobo's abductor is described as 5-feet-10 to 6-foot-tall and around 200 pounds. Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at 615-744-4000.
