This Is What Holy Week Looks Like Around The World

Christians around the world observe Jesus's crucifixion and resurrection during Holy Week.

The Christian Holy Week begins every year on Palm Sunday and culminates with Easter the following Sunday. It is a time of worship and reflection on Jesus’s journey into Jerusalem, through the Last Supper, his crucifixion and his ultimate resurrection as portrayed in the Christian gospels.

The week includes a variety of observances, from the processions with palm fronds on Palm Sunday, to the ceremony of the washing of the feet on Maundy Thursday, to the Easter Vigil.

Here is a look at some of the diverse observances for 2016 Holy Week around the world:
