Linda Harvey, Mission America Founder, Compares Homosexuality To Being Anorexic

Being Gay Is Like Being Anorexic, Right Wing Pundit Claims

Mission America founder Linda Harvey, whose opposition to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community is well-established, is making headlines this week after comparing being gay to having an eating disorder.

As Right Wing Watch first reported, Harvey spoke with the American Family Association’s Tim Wildmon and Ed Vitagliano to promote her new book, Maybe He’s Not Gay: Another View on Homosexuality.

"Your body is made to eat, otherwise you will starve; with homosexuals, your body is not made for the kind of relations they have, it’s made for heterosexuality,” Harvey said, before adding, “We’re basically all heterosexuals.”

She then suggested that LGBT people, like those with eating disorders, are "deluded."

Harvey, of course, is no stranger to anti-LGBT declarations. Last year, she slammed LGBT-inclusive education policies as "child abuse" after Dr. Eliza Byard, Executive Director of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) spoke at the 50th anniversary of the March On Washington.

"Why are we in such a place, friends, where children learn homosexual behavior is noble? That amputating healthy body parts is admirable but the mention of Jesus Christ during a graduation ceremony is controversial? I'll tell you how," she said at the time. "It's because not enough of us are calling this lunacy what it is. We need to have a clear idea about what is evil and speak up about it in order to preserve the good."

She's also argued in favor of Russia's controversial "gay propaganda laws," according to Right Wing Watch.

“They have apparently observed the harm being done to kids in the West as a result of homosexual exploitation and are pursuing a much wiser course before global gay activism gets a foothold there,” she said. “[L]et’s pray that children there continue to be allowed protection in this way and in every other way God would want as well.”
