Honey Boo Boo Loves Barbecue, Calls Her Family 'Fat' (VIDEO)

Honey Boo Boo Loves To Eat, Calls Her Family "Fat"

First, she conquered reality television. Then she vanquished the RNC. And now, Alana Thompson (better known as Honey Boo Boo) is mastering the art of barbecue.

In the upcoming episode of TLC's "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," which will air Wednesday night, the 6-year-old pageant star and her family head to a barbecue joint.

In this preview clip, Alana indulges in meat galore, as she declares her food-loving family to be "fat."

"I want the chicken, and the barbecue and then I want the ribs," Alana orders at the restaurant.

When "Mama" June points out that three meat dishes may be a carnivorous overload, the young child responds with a pragmatism that would make many a gourmand proud.

"I know, but I get two sides, why can't my sides be meat?" she asks.

"Her eyes are bigger than her mouth, I think," reasons June, who goes ahead and orders the three dishes, plus two sides, for her child anyway.

With perfect comic timing, Alana then announces that she and her family are "fat." However, she's promptly corrected by her dad, who says they are "pleasantly plump."

According to People, the upcoming episode will also feature the family trying on wigs, celebrating the Fourth of July and building a new backyard pool.

The ratings for Alana's show skyrocketed last week as the show's fourth episode pulled in almost 3 million viewers in the 10 p.m. slot, topping even the ratings for the Republican National Convention.

With this popularity, however, has come much criticism -- and at times, derision too.

Nutritionists have raised concerns about the family's diet, parents have questioned Honey Boo Boo's emotional health and viewers everywhere have laughed and mocked the Thompson family's rural lifestyle and wacky habits.

In a recent blog post entitled "Why I Refuse To Watch 'Honey Boo Boo,'" Lisa Belkin, a senior columnist for The Huffington Post, weighed in on the debate:

My problem with the show, though, is that I can't help but project a decade or two in the future. A grown-up Alana will live forever with the image her mother is encouraging her to project before she can possibly understand the consequences.

I don't doubt that the child is having fun now, or that her mother loves her fiercely. And Lord knows she is a mesmerizing dynamo. But no one who is watching -- not the TLC viewers, not the Jonas Brothers, not the talk show hosts who have been calling me all morning to weigh in -- are doing so because she is talented. They are watching to laugh at her. And I can't bring myself to do that to a child.

Check out "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" every Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
