Truck Swallowed By Sinkhole Proves Hawaii Isn't All Paradise

The poor state of Hawaii's infrastructure has long been documented, but when a road swallows a truck, well, that raises some eyebrows.

A Honolulu sinkhole swallowed a parked truck on Thursday morning after a water main broke, flooding the intersection and adjacent yard. Twenty-three neighborhood residents were affected by the water main break, but no injuries have been reported, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

Sala Costa, the truck owner's wife, told Hawaii News Now that the sound of the running water woke her up and that firefighters helped her escape the flooded yard. She said she thinks the truck actually helped stem more water from flooding into their yard and home.

Amazingly, according to KITV-4, the same water main also broke eight months ago, causing $100,000 worth of damages to Costa's home.

Let's get it together, Hawaii.
