Buzz surrounding former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence spread across the country on Thursday. Bars opened early, and basic cable networks shoved aside regularly scheduled programming in favor of C-SPAN fare.

It’s safe to say America is tuned in.

And so when Netflix’s “House of Cards” ― the dark political drama recently criticized for presenting a fictionalized picture of American politics too similar to real life ― wordlessly tweeted out a clip from the show, it felt as if someone were holding up a mirror:

If only Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) could’ve given us real-time commentary.

The hearing, which began at 10 a.m. ET, promises to shed light on President Donald Trump’s interactions with Comey as he led an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
