When it comes to designing your own home, less planning might lead to great things. The proof: The Home of designer Wendy Schwartz who pretty much let things fall into place while decorating her home in Bel Air, California. "Much of it has been unplanned," Schwartz explains of the mix of eclectic art and furnishings in the house, which is featured over at California Home + Design.

Schwartz, who is a lover of art and vintage finds, found herself looking to eBay, Etsy and thrift stores when furnishing her house. "I buy what I love and find a place for it later," she says. She then combined her finds with pieces from her new furniture line, Cuff Home, for a high-low appeal that resonates throughout the home -- from the jewel-toned living room to her glamorous bedroom that's outfitted with a shiny folding screen.

Needless to say, Schwartz continues to add to her home, which has stylish nooks and sitting areas that are constantly changing, thanks to new items that she keeps finding at local shops. However, they're often not extravagant purchases. "I have a long list of furniture and more serious art I’m wanting, of course,” she says. “But sometimes I buy small objects and inexpensive art because adding those elements to my home is a cost-effective way to freshen and add interest."
