For many, 2016 has been a shockingly bad year.
The deaths of music and acting legends including David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Prince, Alan Rickman and Gene Wilder was devastating enough. They’ve been further compounded by the civil war in Syria, global terrorism, the rise of the far-right and hate crimes, Britain’s Brexit vote to leave the European Union and Donald Trump’s surprise presidential election victory.
With those events in mind, Twitter users have been suggesting #howcan2016redeemitself in its four remaining weeks.
Some take a wildly optimist approach, while others appear happy for it all to end with a gigantic meteor strike. Here are some of the best posts below:
