When it comes to making purchases, we all have that go-to payment option. Whether it's a debit card, credit card, cash or check, it's the way we prefer to pay for in-person or online purchases. But why do we always reach for that one option? Is it the safest way to pay, or just something we've trained ourselves to do? Do we use it to earn rewards, or simply find it convenient?

To answer these questions, we surveyed more than 500 people ages 18 and older. See the infographic below to find out what's the preferred way to pay in person and online.
