Chibuihem Amalaha claims he has used science and magnets to prove that marriage equality is wrong, so I thought I would use Star Wars and the concept of the Force to prove how being against marriage equality is wrong.

In Star Wars the Force is broken into two sides: the light side and the dark side. These two sides are analogous to the pro-marriage-equality side (the light side) and the anti-marriage-equality side (the dark side).

In Star Wars the followers of the light side use the Force to battle for peace, hope, justice and equality. The followers of the dark side use the Force to spread tyranny, despair, injustice and inequality, just like in the fight against marriage equality.

The anti-marriage-equality folks say they are against marriage equality for a number of different reasons, but when it comes right down to do it, they fear that marriage equality will cause the gates of Hell to open up and destroy the world. Quite simply put, their beliefs are based on fear, and fear leads to suffering. How do I know that? Master Yoda, one of the strongest Jedi ever, tells us this fact several different times over the course of the Star Wars saga.

In Episode 1, Master Yoda says to young Anakin Skywalker, "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."

In Episode 4 Master Yoda tells Anakin's son Luke, "[A] Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware. Anger, fear, aggression. The dark side are they. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny."

Now, for those you don't know, Luke's father Anakin gave in to his fear of losing his wife and turned to the dark side, thus becoming Darth Vader. In the end the dark side destroys Darth Vader, and only by letting go of his fear and anger is he able to return to the light side.

So if we accept that giving in to fear ultimately leads to suffering, then how can the dark side, or the anti-marriage-equality side, be the path to follow? As Star Wars demonstrates, following that path only leads to destruction, anger and pain. By that same logic, it can be said that the light side, or the pro-marriage-equality side, is the path that leads to hope, joy and acceptance.

So as you can see, I have used Star Wars and the Force to prove that marriage equality is indeed right and the only path to follow. To hell with the magnet theory. Use the Force!
