How This News Anchor Found The Strength To Forgive Her Father

When she was growing up, Emmy Award-winning news anchor Kara Sundlun never had the chance to know her father. Later in life, though, father and daughter reunited, making every moment count until his death in 2011. Sundlun joined HuffPost Live host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani today to discuss her new book Finding Dad and explain how that momentous reunion made her feel.

"It is a dream come true," said Sundlun. "And some would say, 'Oh that's a fairytale,' and I'm a journalist so I would say fairy tales aren't true, but forgiveness is magic. Both my brothers' willingness to open their hearts to me and also forgive my dad, my dad's willingness to come around and say, 'Okay, I really messed up so let's try and do this over,' and my ability to let him in was the only way we could have had that happy ending."

To hear more about Sundlun's story and the gift of forgiveness, watch the HuffPost Live clip in the video above.
