To keep from searching all over the house for small travel necessities, contain them in a large shoe or boot box. Label it and keep it somewhere accessible, especially if you travel frequently. It can contain:

-Passport
-Document organizer (for tickets, itineraries, etc.)
-Vaccination record
-Leftover foreign currency in labeled travel-ready envelopes (for example, Euros or Canadian Dollars)
-Electrical adapters or a universal adapter
-A second set of power cords for laptop and cell phone
-Travel alarm
-Small flashlight
-Inflatable neck pillow
-Universal sink stopper (for washing clothes in the sink) and detergent packets
-Pocketknife (packed in your checked luggage, not a carry-on)
-Pocket-size foreign language pocket phrase books and dictionaries

Customize your box to suit your travel needs. When you return from a trip, unload these items back into the box for future travel.
