How To Boil An Egg (VIDEO)

WATCH: How To Boil The Perfect Eggs

It seems everyone has their own way of boiling an egg, but is your method foolproof? It's actually pretty easy to overcook an egg and end up with that ugly dark circle around the yolk. So even if you think your method is the best one, it's worth watching the video above to learn a super simple method that yields perfect results.

Start by placing the eggs in a saucepan and pour over with water about an inch above the eggs. Bring the eggs to a boil, cover the pot, and remove it from the heat. Let the eggs sit in the hot water for 10 minutes. Transfer the eggs to an ice water bath and let them cool for 5 minutes. Now it will be much easier to peel them (click here to see all the different ways to peel eggs).

And if you ever mix up your boiled eggs with your raw eggs, there's an easy way to tell which is which. Simply spin the egg like a top -- if it rotates perfectly, it's boiled, but if it wobbles, it's still raw.
