How To Clean The Water Dispenser On Your Fridge

The Part Of Your Fridge You Probably Haven't Cleaned...Yet

A refrigerator water dispenser is a fun feature that sometimes gets overlooked during a routine kitchen cleaning. But cleaning it thoroughly is important to ensure you're drinking clean, bacteria-free water. Hadn't thought about that before, right? Fear not: just follow these relatively simple steps.

First, turn off the water supply connected to the dispenser. Then, loosen the screw connecting the water supply pump and water tank and slide the water tube off. Next, using a small funnel, pour three to four cups of vinegar in the tube. Then, tape it to a surface so it sits upright. To clear the vinegar out of the system hold the tap of the water dispenser until there isn't any liquid coming out. Finally, reconnect the tube to the water tank and allow clean water to run through the system until no vinegar remains. You can use vinegar to clean the water spout as well.
