How To Eat Xiao Long Bao (VIDEO)

You're EatingWrong!

Imagine scalding the roof of your mouth with steaming food or burning the inside of your throat with a hot drink.

People who eat xiao long bao, or Chinese soup dumplings, face both dangers simultaneously. That's why the organizers of 626 Night Market put together this helpful little video to guide first-time XLB eaters on the proper way to down the dumplings. 626, of course, refers to the area code for San Gabriel Valley, a cluster of cities and neighborhoods in north LA County that have a burgeoning Asian-American community.

The wordless PSA stars Kristie Hang, founder of the 626 Foodettes blog, and San Gabriel Valley restaurant expert Clarissa Wei. Watch the video, then head north and eat with caution.
