Kitchen sponges are a necessity. But man, do they get grimy fast. Here, the easiest way to extend the life of your favorite cleaning supply without costing you a thing--and it requires almost zero effort to do. Seriously, why didn't we think of this sooner?

What you need: A fresh kitchen sponge and a pair of scissors.

What you do: Take the scissors and cut the sponge in half. That’s it!

Besides the obvious (and immediate) benefit of having an extra sponge on your hands, the smaller size actually fits better in your hand so you have more control when washing the dishes. And you don’t have to feel guilty about replacing them more often now, either.
