It's kind of a funny thing when you think about how our minds can either be our best friend or our worst enemy. Or maybe it's just down right scary. Our mind has the ability to lift us up and cause us to win or it can destroy us a thousand times over! So What exactly is the deciding factor on which approach happens?

Our mind has thoughts that are subconscious thoughts as well as conscious thoughts of things that you’ve heard, seen, and experienced. There are many times, which you probably experienced yourself; where your mind has thought unwanted thoughts. These thoughts intrude your head and try to set up camp as if you have no control over them.

The one thing that is best to be understood is that you are the one that controls the shots in your life. That means that you can think or choose not to think what you want. You might believe that it isn’t that simple, but it is just that, that simple. Some of your mind baggage comes from experiences that you had several years ago all the way up until your early childhood. These thoughts may be embedded deep down in your brain and most of the time you might not even notice that you have thoughts that are actually baggage that is holding you back.

I know that I hate mind baggage and you probably do too and you are as desperate as I was to get rid of it. So I came up with simple steps that will help you kick mind baggage to the curb.

Step 1. Always remember that you are in control. Make sure that you say those words out loud and write them down. You can place them in places where you can see them often and where you normally have mind baggage pop up.

Step 2. Write down words that are uplifting, encouraging, and that reminds you of everything good in your life.

Step 3. Create a stress relief routine so that you can eliminate any access pressure that might be a direct culprit of your mind baggage.

Step 4. When unwanted thoughts come (which they will) get to the root of the problem and make a mends. Usually, thoughts linger because we have not really addressed the actual problem, possibly because bandaids have become more convenient and easier to deal with.

Step 5. Affirm yourself with positive thoughts when you are feeling the rise of any mind baggage.

Step 6. Repeat steps 1-5

After doing those steps for several days you should start seeing the mind baggage you once had, less and less. Just because negative thoughts pop up in your head from time to time, doesn’t mean that you have to allow them to set up shop without paying rent. I’m a firm believer that once you have chosen to be the conductor of your own mind, the places that you will be able to go and the things that you will be able to accomplish is limitless.

Creating a new fundamental way to combat any attacks on the health of your thoughts is something that you have to continuously work at. This is not a quick fix or an over night process. This is something that will take some time. You are turning this into your new lifestyle and routine and with anything that you have made a habit or a lifestyle, you had to work to get there.
