We hear updates everyday about the ongoing ISIS and civil war crises in Syria and Iraq. The stories on the news are horrifying and the personal stories we at WorkerAnts.com have heard from friends who have family in Syria are even more wrenching. So we would like to take a moment and consolidate a list of organizations that are providing aid to the millions of people affected by the violence occurring in Syria and Iraq. You can support these charities in many ways, including by donating, volunteering or raising awareness of their work by telling a neighbor about an organization.

Doctors Without Borders, Medical Teams International and International Medical Corps are some of the organizations providing medical relief and aid in Syria and Iraq.

The British Red Cross is earmarking funds for the Iraq crisis and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent website has updated local news reports of the crisis. Check out what your local Red Cross or Red Crescent chapter is doing to see if they are providing international support.

Christian Aid, Mercy Corps, War Child UK, Handicap International and Life for Relief and Development are all specifically assisting with the Iraq crisis. There are also numerous organizations, including the following, that are providing aid to both countries or have supported Syrians throughout the last three years of their civil war.

CARE
Islamic Relief USA
Save the Children
Syria Relief
Syria Relief & Development
Shelterbox
World Vision Lebanon
International Orthodox Christian Charities
International Rescue Committee
Mercy-USA
Oxfam

You can also look into supporting the Syrian Civil Defence, also known as the White Helmets. They are amazingly brave unarmed volunteers who risk their lives to help anyone in need - regardless of their religion or politics. Currently, they are short on equipment and they are looking for people to petition their governments for funding.

In addition, if you are interested in taking action against, or just learning more about, the genocides occurring in Iraq and Syria check out United To End Genocide; The Combat Genocide Association and Genocide Watch.

You can search the WorkerAnts.com database to find these and many more organizations that are helping refugees, internally displaced persons and victims of civil wars and strife around the world. Try using a keyword or searching the following categories on our Organization map: Humanitarian Aid & Disaster Relief, Human Rights, or International Migration, Refugee Issues. Finally, don't forget that if you know of a charitable organization that we don't have listed you can use the "Suggest An Organization" button at the bottom of any page on the site to let us know!
