How To Peel Hard Boiled Eggs With A Spoon (VIDEO)

Say so long to the eternal frustration of peeling eggs.

Peeling hard-boiled eggs is one of those tasks that should be easy but always seems to end up in frustration. One minute you're on a roll, peeling off the shell in one piece, and the next minute the shell cracks into tiny fragments. The pieces stick to the egg, making them incredibly tedious to remove, and inevitably you end up puncturing the egg, or at least severely wounding it. The end result is a deformed and lumpy egg, instead of the smooth, perfect one you had envisioned.

Thankfully, the folks over at Food & Wine have a great kitchen hack for peeling hard-boiled eggs. In a new video series called "Mad Genius Tips," Food & Wine Test Kitchen recipe tester Justin Chapple enlightens viewers with easy cooking tricks. In this video, Chapple reveals the humble teaspoon's extraordinary talent for peeling an egg shell away from an egg.

You simply hit the bottom of an egg on a hard surface, tear off a small piece of the shell, and slide a spoon into the opening. Then, making sure the spoon has slid underneath the egg's membrane, you start to rotate the egg in your hand. If done correctly, the spoon should loosen the shell so that you can peel it away all in one piece.

Peeling eggs may never be the same again.
