The Space Shuttle Endeavour is about to embark on the last leg of its journey to the California Science Center at Exposition Park across from USC. Here's how to check out the Endeavour's 12-mile endeavor across the streets of LA.

The shuttle will depart from LAX on Friday, Oct. 12 at about 2 a.m. and arrive at the museum at about 9 p.m. the next day, Saturday, Oct 13. According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), here's where to see the see the shuttle drive by on Oct 13:

Two best places:

  • Inglewood Forum, 3900 W. Manchester Blvd., Inglewood, CA
  • Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, 3650 W. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., LA, CA
Additionally:
  • Bill Robertson Lane at Exposition Park

The police also warned that as the Endeavour travels, they will have to remove and re-install power lines, traffic signals and street lights and that this will cause traffic congestion. To see specific streets that will be affected, click here.

Controversially, nearly 400 trees are being cut down to stumps for the shuttle, which is five stories high and 78 feet wide. The police say that the Endeavour is "one of the largest objects ever to be transported over city streets in Los Angeles."

Ironically, the speedy rocket ship will creep at about only two miles per hour across LA's streets, so everyone lining up to get a glimpse of the Endeavour will be able to get a good, long look.
