Stress, a poor diet, a lack of exercise, these are all things that seem to go along with the modern lifestyle. Over time, these habits can take a toll not only on your body, but also on your mind.

It has been proven time and time again that dieting just doesn’t work and that following a healthy eating plan should be for life, and not just a few weeks. But every year, millions of people spend millions of dollars on dieting plans, food programs and supplements, all in an effort to improve their health.

Even with all this money poured into diet and lifestyle plans and a growing awareness of disease, in the Western world we are still as obese as ever and we still suffer from lifestyle related diseases.

While there really is no magic bullet when it comes to health, there are some simple, quick and easy things you can do that will make a world of difference.

1. Start the Morning with Lemon and Hot Water

Fresh lemon squeezed into hot water each morning is like an instant detox and can do wonder for your gut health and skin. Drinking lemon and hot water can help to flush your system and can also help to kickstart your digestion for the day ahead. Simply squeeze fresh lemon into hot (not boiling) water and drink first thing in the morning before eating.

2. Eat 5 Serves of Vegetables Daily

No matter your daily diet, eating 5 serves of vegetables every single day is paramount for good health and can help to counteract many bad lifestyle habits. One serve of vegetables is about 1 cup and although this seems like a lot to begin with, you will instantly start to notice the positive benefits. To help you get your 5 serves in, consider adding vegetables to your breakfast either in a smoothie or with your eggs, and then adding vegetables as a snack throughout the day. The best way to eat your veggies is raw, lightly sauteed, roasted or steamed. Unfortunately, deep fried doesn’t count!

3. Meditate

You can have the healthiest diet in the world but if you are stressed your body is still going to suffer. Stress is a huge cause of disease and can also lead to cravings and other poor lifestyle habits. Meditation is a great way to relieve stress and can also do wonders for your mental health. There are many different styles of meditation so try and few and see which one works best for you.

These three daily habits can help your body and mind to become clearer, sharper and full of energy. Why not give them a try and see how good you feel.
