During the first week of my previous job, I was certain this was going to be my last time working for someone else. I just knew. I had a gut feeling.

I launched my business -- built a website, compiled an email database and started spreading the word of my new business venture. When I sent out my first email blast sharing with my friends, family and colleagues that I was offering 25-minute complimentary sessions -- I expected FIREWORKS! Everyone is going to want to sign up, I thought. Everyone is going to be interested in this, it's FREE!

And then there were crickets.

Okay, maybe not crickets -- I had a ton of people congratulate me and say lovely things about how proud they were of me. It was really nice and appreciated -- but nobody took me up on my offer of a complimentary session. How could this be?

This was my first realization that not everything I was going to put out into the world was going to resonate with everyone. More importantly, I had to build their trust. I had to showcase who I am, what I'm capable of, how I can help people.

This takes time.

Entrepreneurship comes with many challenges so it's imperative to constantly stay motivated, inspired and create new ways to move things forward.

These are my top five tips on how to stay inspired and motivated as an entrepreneur:

1)Don't be a hermit: It's important to shower, get dressed, get out of your home and interact with people on a daily basis. Whether you work from a coffee shop, a co-working space or meet a colleague for lunch -- it's imperative to remove yourself from staring at a computer all day. Also, don't stay in your pajamas all day (guilty!). Connect with people who motivate and support you. Join communities and groups of likeminded people who can relate to what you're going through -- people you can bounce ideas off of.

2)Stay true to your values: It's really easy to get caught up in the day to day, minute to minute stuff when running all aspects of your business. Don't forget your values, purpose and goals. Think about what the core of your business is and don't let that slide out from underneath you. As you grow, your mindset and priorities may shift yet it's imperative to stay authentic to your belief system.

3)Stay active: Work/life balance is often challenging for entrepreneurs even though we have more freedom than an average employee. Making time to stay active and taking care of yourself is vital for your well-being. Meditate, practice yoga, go for a run, take a spin class or find an activity you love to do. Stand up desks such as the UpWrite desk by UpDesk can be useful to prevent you from having neck and shoulder tension that is often caused by being hunched over at your computer all day.

4)Read, Write, Listen, Watch: Engage your senses and learn something new. Read a book, article or blog post; write in a journal and keep track of your thoughts, feelings and observations; listen to music, a podcast or an audio book; watch shows, movies or videos. Any of these will allow your mind and body to relax, rejuvenate and prepare for whatever you need to tackle next in your business.

5)Give yourself a break: Vacations and getaways are crucial. Whether it's a day-trip, quick weekend drive out of town or removing yourself completely on a beachside vacation - you need a change of scenery. Getting yourself out of your routine and mixing things up a bit will allow you to come back more rejuvenated, inspired and motivated. You can even be active while on vacation through trips with Ketanga Fitness.

When you start implementing some of these actions into your life, you'll begin to find yourself more motivated and inspired to continue doing the work that you are meant to be doing.
